Gabe P. Allen New Tech Academy will be a pioneer in primary education where all stakeholders (educators, families, and community members) will unite to empower all students to take ownership of their learning. Our students will become assertive leaders, independent thinkers, and effective communicators to develop solutions to global and local issues. We will instill the skills they need to be successful today and ready to lead in an ever-changing world.

Our mission is to empower students to become confident, independent problem-solvers, leading us into a diverse and ever-changing society. We are dedicated to nurturing high self-esteem and respect for others. We believe that all students can learn by asking questions, solving problems, and making sound decisions.

Who was Gabe P. Allen?

Our school was named after Gabriel Penn Allen, a prominent Dallas attorney in the 1930s and 1940s.

Gabe was born in Terrell, Texas on June 16, 1894 to William Hale Allen and Sidney Penn Allen. He moved to Dallas in 1906 where he attended Dal High (Crozier Tech). He graduated from The University of Texas with a degree in law in 1917 and belonged to the Phi Gamma Delta Fraternity.

Mr. Allen served as a Captain in the field artillery in World War I. He returned to Dallas in 1919 to practice law at Allen & Allen Law firm with his father and his brother Arch C. Allen.

Mr. Allen married Miss Blanche Craven in 1921. They had two children, Florence Elizabeth Allen and William Craven Allen. They also had a foster daughter, which was his niece, Emil Fretz. His hobbies were fishing, hunting and golf.

Gabe Allen's service to the Dallas ISD began in 1934, when he was appointed to serve on the DISD School Board. He was re-elected, and served on the board for 12 years. During that time, he served as the Finance Chairman and a member of the building and welfare committee. He helped shape the DISD curriculum for vocational education and was instrumental in planning the construction of what later became P.C. Cobb Stadium and Field House. Mr. Allen aided in having the board pass a $2 million bond issue for the construction of new schools. When DISD decided to hire its own attorney in 1947, Allen was appointed to the post and served in that capacity until his death in July of 1949.
