Meet the Principal

Jamie Contreras is a first-generation college student with deep Dallas ISD roots. He is a proud product of DallasISD and graduate of Sunset High School. His passion and love for his community has grounded him throughout his 21 years of service with DallasISD. Mr.
Contreras has been blessed to spend 20 of those years pouring into campuses within 2 miles from his childhood home.
His heart for servanthood ignited his career as a SpEd teacher assistant at L.O. Donald Elementary, before assisting at Sam Tasby Middle school for a year. In 2007 Mr. Contreras returned to Oak Cliff to serve as a 2nd/3rd grade teacher at C.M. Soto Elementary (2007-
2014), where he was named campus Teacher of the Year and a Dallas ISD Master Teacher in 2010.
Mr. Contreras impacted a generation of students, including his own two daughters Sadie 14 and Madeline 9, at Mary Bethune Elementary while serving as Assistant Principal from 2014-2023. Mr. Contreras' core values of equity and building relationships was an integral asset to Bethune's success, including earning multiple distinctions to their consistent B+ academic rating.
Dallas ISD continued to invest in Mr. Contreras as he joined the LEAD Future Principal's Institute in 2021. Returning to C.M. Soto Elementary as a LEAD Principal Resident in 2023, Mr. Contreras utilized these skills to collaborate and assist in moving C.M. Soto to an A rated campus.
DallasISD is truly home for Mr. Contreras, as he feels fortunate to be able to serve within DallasISD with his wife and twin brother. Mr. Contreras is excited, ready, willing and able to lead the Eagles of Gabe P. Allen New Tech Academy. The campus in which his late father attended in the community of West Dallas where both of his parents were born and raised.
