Counseling Corner
Counselor’s Role
A School Counselor performs the following roles in order to promote positive development in academic, career, and personal/social domains:
- Individual counseling
- Small group counseling
- Classroom guidance (i.e. Large group counseling)
- Attend and participate in academic intervention meetings
- Organize and chair 504 meeting
- Observe students in various school environments
- Consult and collaborate with parents, teachers, administrators, social workers, and students
- Respond to school crises or emergency situations
- Provide information and resources to parents on a variety of issues
All students can meet with the school counselot, as needed. Students are instructed to leave me a note and the counselor will schedule with their teacher to meet with them during their non-instructional time.
The counselor is available to meet with parents. The counselor can meet with parents individually to discuss specific concerns or to serve as a liaison for families needing community resources.
